Golden Barb’s scientific names are Puntiussachsii, Puntiussemifasciolatus, Barbusschuberti. Golden Barb belongs to Cyprinidae Family and they like freshwater. They are a colorful and beautiful fish species. Golden barb is a peaceful fish species like neon tetra. This colorful freshwater fish grow up to 3 inches like Tiger Barb and other barb varieties. Golden Barb Fish Tank Requirement
Golden Barb fish like to swim around the tank therefore they like more space. About 30 gallons or more sizes fish tanks are good as their homes. They like plants therefore use aquatic plants and it is good if u can put some gravel and sand layer on the floor of the tank. Between 74°F to 82°F temperature and 6.0 to 7.0 PH level water tank is the best for this fish. Set 4 to 10 KH water Hardness level. They can be maintained easily so fish lovers can begin from these fish varieties to care fish as pets in their home aquarium. You can put same size peaceful fish species mixed with Golden Barbs and it adds much color and verity to the tank. Golden Barb likes to live as a group so never put alone in a tank.
Breeding & Food
Golden Barb female fish are relatively large than Male fish. Their male fish body is thin than female fish. But female Golden Barb is less colorful comparing to male fish. Also Female golden barb has rounded belly. They spread eggs on the plants or on a sandy bottom. After laying eggs you must want to remove parent fish from breeding tank. If not parent starts to eat their eggs. New born fries (baby fish) are very weak until three days old. After few days baby fish start to swim. Next you have to start feeding them you can buy fry foods easily on the Amazon or at any other aquarium store.
They are Omnivore fish therefore you should use wide ranges of fish foods for their diet. They mostly like plant matters, insects, crustaceans, worms and High Quality tropical fish foods. They are an active fish species therefore feed two or more times per day.
